Leona Lewis Says Her Mum Is Her Biggest Influence
Leona Lewis says her hero is her mum.
The singer was eager to talk about her personal role models on the red carpet in Hollywood at CNN’s glitzy All-Star Tribute honouring heroes from around the world for 2009.
“My hero for me is my mum because she’s the person that’s always provided for me, that’s always supported me and just made me believe that anything is possible,” she explained.
Leona fought off a throat infection to make it to the celebration, telling reporters: “I’m holding up, just resting.”
The Happy singer and her fashion faux pas hit the red carpet for the American Music Awards at the Nokia Theater L.A. Live in Los Angeles (obviously) Sunday night.
Leona Lewis recently insisted her confidence hasn’t taken a dent after she was attacked at a book signing last month.
“It hasn’t affected my confidence at all,” she said. “Obviously it was very shocking and it was a horrible thing for anyone to have to go through, but I’m kind of getting over it now.
“It was so isolated and such a rare thing to happen, but unfortunately it happened to me. I’m moving forward though.”
“You know, bad stuff happens and it wasn’t some random thug who did it. It was someone who was very, very ill and needs help really, so that’s kind of helped me sleep at night,” Lewis added.
“Obviously I’m more aware of what’s going on around me now. I had security there with me on the day, but you could never have anticipated it.
