Putting Things in Perspective

Friday, October 31st, 2008

An important characteristic, for effective leadership, is the ability to put things in perspective. Throughout any business day, there are numerous situations that arise that create anxiety and stress, for both you and your staff of people or team members. It can be as small as the printer/copier experiencing some technical glitches to as huge as losing a major client. The key, of course, is for you to put things in perspective for not only your own sanity but for the effectiveness of those around you. Here are some tips to help with just that:

*Concentrate on a solution versus blame. It is easy to get stuck in the rut of placing blame. You’ve all done it at some point in your life, whether it was last week in the office or 25 years ago with your sibling, you know what I am referring to: spending time and energy complaining and whining about the event, or the person that caused it, versus finding a solution to help overcome it.

Part of the job description for a mature leader is to not only allow the people around you time to vent their frustrations but to also know or realize when enough is enough. Your goal is to communicate to those around you how unfortunate the event was but it is time to discover a solution and keep reminding them of that over and over again until it sinks in. You can’t control what people are going to do when they are out to lunch or on a shared commute home, but you can help set the tone in the workplace.

*Be aware, and careful, of whom you choose to vent to. Leadership is not easy; you are only human and, that said, you have a breaking point; that is, a point where you feel the need to vent and let your frustrations go. Just like the people who work with you, every once-in-a-while you need to find an empathizing ear.

When that time comes for you, be very careful as to whom you choose to share your angst with. If you are a co-manager, don’t go to the individual(s) on the team that you both manage, and complain about him/her, to them. It does not make for an effective work place environment. Find someone on an equal, or higher level than you to share your thoughts; either within your organization or outside of it, you decide what is best. If you don’t have anyone like that then work on dealing with it yourself by going for a walk, writing down in some type of journal your thoughts and feelings or send an email or voice mail to yourself to “get it all out.” You need to deal with it in whatever fashion works for you so you can move on, not only for yourself but also for the people you lead.

*Prioritize and communicate. Once the solution is figured out, help those around you by prioritizing the steps to take. In other words, give them direction. What are the logical things that need to be done and in what order and by whom? Include the bigger picture items as well as the more detailed ones. The clearer your direction is, the more people will be able to follow through on it. Don’t be “gray” when it comes to delegation and dividing-and-conquering. Don’t ever leave a meeting or spontaneous gathering without reminding your team what solution you are working towards and why. It is your job to keep the vision alive and the inspiration strong.

*Realize what is important, and what is not. Don’t waste precious resources on things that are not that big of a deal. Perfectionism, for example, can sure get in the way. Reflect on the situation, once dealt with, to discover what could be done next time around to prevent this type of thing from happening again, not in a blame mode but in a problem-solving mode. Don’t allow yourself to get hung up on the minute details that can be easily overcome.

Leadership is something that you are all responsible for, whether it is part of your job description/title, or not. Sometime during the day you are a leader, even if it just because you are the first one off the subway or commuter train. Putting things in perspective impacts the environment you work in and is a crucial skill for effectiveness in today’s business climate. Make sure to do your part!

Rember The Love

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

These last few days have been for me, a dark night of the soul. Every belief I held, every truth I thought I knew and every answer I had, have all been shattered.

And even though I was surrounded by people, I felt alone, abandoned and afraid.

And yet, through all of it, I also felt higher, as though someone or something were carrying me, lifting me, loving me.

And so this time instead of running from the pain, despair and confusion, I embraced it and what happened surprised me. The pain, despair and confusion became my doorway to freedom. All sorts of insights and inspirations flooded into my consciousness. It was as though I had access to a different time and place and was able to see with new eyes.

I have been searching for the truth all of my life in so many places. I thought there was only one truth and that I came here to find that truth and that if I went to enough seminars and took enough courses and read enough books and did enough affirmations that somehow I would find it.

Enough, enough, enough already! It was never enough. I was never enough. And now I have found myself in this place and I realized that …

No one can tell you what your truth is or how to get there. They can only soften the path a little. But if you are awake and alive, there will come a time when you will have to examine your own heart.

During this time, I thought often of Mother Teresa and what a powerful woman she was, yet without the arrogance that one often finds in powerful people. She was able to command large amounts of money from everywhere and yet she was so humble. She didn’t need to be the best at anything, she just needed to BE. Simple and profound. She touched countless lives and changed the world one person at a time.

I have an act of kindness section on my website and for the last 7 years have been putting acts of kindness suggestions on one of my daily pages. This morning as I was thinking of Mother Teresa again, I sat down to my computer and these words flowed from my fingertips and onto the screen.

Whatever you do today, remember ONE thing. That in the end, all that really matters is the LOVE! Did you seek it? Did you find it? But most importantly – DID YOU GIVE IT? Remember the LOVE!

And then I knew that was the truth I was looking for. Remember the LOVE. Often in our quest for bigger and better things, we forget why we came here in the first place. When my father died and I was sitting on his doorstep outside waiting for the limo to arrive to take me to his funeral, this was never more apparent. There stood his beautiful house and car in silence. He would never walk up those stairs and open that door again or sit behind that wheel. But I could feel his presence. He was much bigger than all of those things. His love was there forever. It didn’t die with him. The only thing we take with us when we leave this place is the love and it doesn’t matter if we die with a slim body and a fat bank account. All that matters is the love.

In remembering this, I came to know my truth. Perhaps we don’t come here to learn, perhaps we come here to teach. And the secret to success is in the love. Then I recalled a story I heard about a woman who hated her job and was living a joyless life of struggle. Her heart was closed in pain, anger and resentment. She was working as a cleaning lady. One day the old woman she worked for put on some music on the stereo. It was music that she and her late husband used to dance to. She was missing her mate terribly and longing for the gentle touch of another soul. The old woman asked the cleaning lady if she would dance with her. The cleaning lady was a bit taken aback at first but agreed to do so. And then something miraculous happened.

In opening her arms to the old woman, she also opened her heart and the tears and the love began to flow. She let the love in and in that precious moment that love lifted her spirit and transformed her life. Right after this incident the cleaning lady’s business started to take off, she got so many calls she had to hire a huge staff to accommodate everyone and her company grew by leaps and bounds. The struggle disappeared and everything that she had been trying to make happen came to her effortlessly, once her heart had been opened.

In remembering this story, I knew that I had found my truth. The secret to success and the secret to life is in the love. Once I knew that, I knew everything.

Going to Buy Wedding Rings? Hold On!

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

Precisely speaking, you should consider the following under listed aspects, before buying a wedding ring.

Style The style of a wedding ring is one of the most important aspects to be considered before buying a wedding ring. You should carefully decide on the style of the wedding ring and ask yourself that whether you and your partner would be comfy wearing that particular ring for the rest of your lives.

Let us consider some fine styles of wedding rings. A conventional gold band would be in vogue for many years to come. If you don’t like the simplicity of the ring, you can definitely consider buying an engraved style or a beaded edge style. If you want to be somewhat more flamboyant, you can go for a ring with channel set diamonds. And above all, you can also buy custom made rings for yourselves to reflect your love more profoundly.

Well, irrespective of all the styles, you should choose such a wedding ring style, which you and your partner are comfortable wearing and which would act as a total expression of your personality and style.

The Metal Selection A perennial aspect of buying wedding rings includes the selection of the metal. For this purpose, you along with your partner can choose a particular metal, be it gold, platinum, titanium or diamond. You can even choose the same metal, which you have chosen for your engagement rings, or you can buy an altogether different set of rings as well. Irrespective of the fact that which metal you choose, it is preferred that both the rings should complement the personality, style and accessories of both of you. However let us take a look at some of the best preferred metal choices.

Yellow Gold: Yellow gold is one of the most customary ring metals. For many people, gold represents love and warmth in a marriage. If you insist on buying yellow gold wedding rings, you should look for the quality of gold in terms of carats. More the number of carats, costlier the ring becomes. 24 carat is the purest form of gold.

Platinum: Platinum is yet another primary choice for wedding rings. However, it is costlier than the gold rings, but it is worth it. It is very stylish in nature and is an epitome of ever lasting love. This metal is not mixed with any of the lesser metals, so it is much better in quality as well.

Diamond: Costliest of all, a diamond wedding ring would be there to stay with you till eternity. Diamond rings are the most flaunting and the most stylish wedding rings, but you have to shell out a lot of bucks to buy a fine diamond ring.

Considering these two aspects of buying a wedding ring, you would definitely be able to buy an appropriate wedding ring for yourself and your partner. Happy wedding shopping for happy wedding!

Increase Your Energy: A Powerful Formula

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

Would you like to increase your energy level and dissolve stress
more easily? Here is a simple yet powerful formula to remember:
Goals + Action = Energy

Choose a Compelling Goal

Begin by choosing a goal you would like to accomplish. Write it
down in detail, describing exactly how you will know when you
have met your goal. Passion behind a clearly stated goal is a
powerful force. You can gain enormous control over that force by
focusing on one small step that you need to take.

For example, your goal might be to create a healthy balance
between your career and personal life. Answer this question:
What is one small action I could take that would create more
balance and help to dissolve stressful feelings? The answer
might be as simple as adding a ten-minute walk each morning or
joining a special interest group. The important thing is that
you ask your question and put your answer into action.

Smaller goal-actions are even more important than larger
goal-actions for a quick energy renewal. Break larger objectives
down into small actions. Then choose one and start on it. You
will know that you are moving toward your goal, and you might
feel an immediate surge in your level of energy.

Choose an Enjoyable Action

Think of the primary areas of your life, and ask yourself this
question: What would renew my energy today where I need it most?
Simply doing something for you–something fun–can provide a
welcome breath of fresh air for the mind and spirit.

Does today call for…

Spiritual renewal,

Time with family,

Listening to music,

Planning a project,

Finishing a project,

Making a call,

Going for a drive,

Walking in nature,

Watching a movie,

Journaling about the week,

Going on a shopping marathon?

Write down twelve of your most enjoyable actions. Then make it a
small goal to enjoy one of them today. The important point is
this: Action will help to decrease stress and build
energy–especially if the action is something pleasant.

Recall Previous Achievements

We also create mental energy with thoughts, beliefs, and
perceptions. Think about a success you have achieved or
something great you have created. How has this past success
contributed to your present level of achievement?

Notice how one action led to the next. Make a list of your
achievements, and focus your mind on them. Recall the way you
felt after achieving success. Recalling and thinking about
successes achieved in the past will help to focus the mind on
success for the future.

Give Energy to Get Energy

Giving part of our time and energy to helping others through
worthwhile causes will also return time and energy to us. Sarah
Bernhardt (1844-1923) wrote, “Life begets life. Energy creates
energy. It is by spending oneself that one becomes rich.”

If you want to attract more energy into your life, you need to
begin by giving energy to someone who can benefit from what you
can offer. Compassionate acts of kindness spread in ever
widening circles. They return in multiples to individuals who
give without expecting anything in return.

Visualize with Gratitude

Gratitude for what you have already achieved will also create
more of the great things you visualize for the future. What you
think about consistently with emotion, whether you want it or
not, you will attract into your reality. That is why things that
we resist continue to persist. Visualize and think about what
you do want, and offer gratitude as if you have already received
it.

In Summary

Remember the simple but powerful formula, goals + action =
energy
. Think of something you want and write it down in
detail. Recall times when you were successful. Then, set a small
goal and begin taking action. Thoughts affect everything, and
everything affects everything else. Action creates energy, and
enthusiastically reaching small goals will create mental energy
and feelings of more success.

Remember to reward yourself by including time for something
enjoyable each day. You will reduce stressful feelings and
create additional reserve energy for daily living. Most
importantly, share your time and energy with others, and give
daily thanks for everything you achieve. You will soon feel an
abundant increase in your focus and energy, allowing you to
accomplish more each day.

Do you have plans to purchase new furniture and require 25000 euro

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

You should be overbold today to investigate if you have a nice offer or if you don’t with the moneylender that offers you a credit loan. Analyze to see if the bank who is willing to give you a bank loan is honest. That’s why now you really need to investigate and go steady if you can have a money loan at a fine percent interest rate. A lot of the banks wil show you a rate that is looking secure but feels severely or so after a while. It makes no difference if you live in Duluth Minnesota or in Corpus Christi Texas a estimable online check up will preserve you often a lot of problems. 12.3 percent rate of interest may come out so fair but will that be unremitting after you have to reinforce your credit loan. At present you can check up on rates of interest quickly at websites and check if there are other possible traps you should know about.

A merchant bank in Des Moines Iowa or so may have a total totally different actual loan rate for a 15000 dollar loan then a merchant bank in Lewisville Texas and that makes a big clear difference in your monthly pay backs.

Do You Have a Wealthy Attitude?

Do You Have a Wealthy Attitude?

© Copyright Rosalind Gardner, All Rights Reserved.

Wealthy people are conniving, selfish, lazy monsters who will steal your last penny if you let them, or so that’s what I was raised to believe.

Fortunately, through my work and various associations, I’ve spent time with many of these ‘monsters’, and discovered that nothing could be farther from the truth.

In fact, over the years I’ve learned that wealthy people are the hardest working, most generous people one could ever meet.

Obviously, the fear-based attitudes about money that were instilled during my childhood were not only incorrect, they didn’t produce more for me than a steady job.

And no job, no paycheck. No matter how well-paid you are, that’s not wealth, that’s a dangerous rut.

To me, wealth means income that is generated on a continuous and ongoing basis, whether or not I’m working specifically on that project or investment at any given time.

I knew that if I wanted to live a richer, fuller life, I’d have to let go of my old beliefs and adopt healthier, more productive attitudes to acquiring wealth.

So I set out to learn about the commonly held beliefs and values shared by wealthy people.

The first commonality was obvious. Wealthy people all value their time too highly to exchange it for a paycheck, and therefore they work for themselves. The exception to this is made when they’ll work for a company in their chosen industry to gain experience or be mentored.

Truly wealthy folks know that there is no such thing as ‘get r*ch quick’ and understand that businesses are built, and wealth is acquired, through being of service to others. They find a need and fill it with excellent products and highly quality customer service. Having their customers’ trust and support, their businesses stand the test of time.

All, without fail, regularly give a portion of their time and money to help those less fortunate.

The wealthy also place great emphasis on healthy nutrition and regular exercise. After their work day is over, rather than flop on the couch to watch a rerun of ‘Friends’ (and West Wing, and Coronation Street, and Frasier…) they’ll opt for a run or a friendly game of squash. They understand that exercise is an activity that creates energy, whereas succumbing to the temptation to ‘flake-out’ leaves you feeling even more exhausted.

While out on that run, they put the increased oxygen flow to good use by thinking, thinking and thinking some more. They forumulate business plans and strategies for the short, medium and long-term. They know that their vision for a happy, solid future for themselves and their familes is built on goals and the specific plans to achieve them.

Family is their top priority. Everything they do is for the purpose of helping to improve the lives of their family members.

Above all, they approach life with gratitude. They know in their hearts that there is more than enough wealth on the planet for everyone to share. They know that whatever effort they make, whatever they choose to give, will be returned to them many times over.

>From that perspective, they have no fear, and it’s fear, not money, that is the root of all evil. Fear causes people to hold on tight and act in greedy, selfish ways. Give to receive.. it’s really that simple.

The ‘good life’ may seem like a lot of hard work, and it is! But if you truly want to enjoy the good life, then do the ‘work’ of setting goals, staying healthy, and being of service to others with joy and an open heart. You’ll be delighted by the rewards work can bring when you approach life with a wealthy attitude.

Why Lacramiora from Yemen Vacations in Chamonix Ski Resort

Sunday, October 26th, 2008

Chamonix Mont Blanc France is a one of a kind destination with the impressive Mont Blanc and majestic glaciers. Each of us like to go telemarking or even wandering around. I sometimes travel from Chicago and stay at a Chamonix guesthouse during my stay.

My friends and I previously visited The Cosmopolitan however it rarely lived up to its marketing: The Cosmopolitan Hotel is a deluxe property situated in downtown Toronto within walking distance of Union Station and the Hockey Hall of Fame, approximately 15 miles from Lester P. Pearson International Airport. This ‘lifestyle hotel’, selected for Conde Nast Traveller’s Hot List 2006, was designed according to the principles of feng shui, numerology, and gemology. At check-in, guests are given a complimentary guided relaxation CD and offered a choice of incense fragrances, and turndown service includes a gemstone instead of a chocolate placed on pillows.Hotel amenities include 24-hour front desk, limited room service, wireless internet, ATM, 24-hour fitness centre and Asian Topas Restraunt/Lounge. The hotel’s elevators are equipped with a controlled-access card system. Concierges, called ‘Lifestyle Managers’, are available 24 hours. Two meeting rooms are equipped with flat-screen TVs and wireless Internet access (surcharge). A business center (opening soon) will be available 24 hours. Guests may also enjoy the onsite spa service at Shizen Spa offering 3 private treatment rooms and acupuncture treatments. Opening soon, an adjacent solarium with a 12-person spa tub.Guest rooms feature 32 inch flat-screen LCD TVs, CD players, in-room movies, full kitchen facilities with refrigerators, mini-bars, and microwaves, in-room safes, windows and balconies that open, hardwood flooring, bathrobes, desks, irons, ironing boards, AM/FM alarm clock radios, A/C, telephones, voicemail, coffeemakers, hairdryers, air purifiers, relaxation CDs, and Serenity fountains with energy stone.

In comparison in Chamonix village the guesthouse is nearly always fine. Likewise dining in our groups preferred restaurant, Mc Divetos Restaurant & Bar, enjoying apple-barbecue spareribs is a real treat. Chamonix is a big enough village to make sure that there is lots for the tourist to do. Including a beauty salon and a range of terraced caf©s, Chamonix offers a choice of climbing, French alpine charm and shopping which few resorts can beat.

Why Questions Are The Answer!

Saturday, October 25th, 2008

Asking questions is one of the most basic ways that we all learn and grow. The questions we ask other people, and even more importantly, the questions we ask ourselves, can have a dramatic impact on our self improvement, success and happiness.

There are times when we find ourselves with problems, in difficult situations, or even in a position where we feel completely overwhelmed. It can be very easy to say ‘what have I done to deserve this?’ or ‘why does this always happen to me?’

However, these questions are destructive and only serve to prepare us for future disappointments. In fact, they can actually guarantee it! The questions we ask ourselves reflect our state of mind, reinforce our beliefs and have a huge impact on our results.

We all need to make a concerted effort to ask ourselves empowering questions that encourage and promote positive thoughts, rather than destructive questions that reinforce negative thought patterns and behaviour.

We all experience events that seem just too much for us to deal with, but in almost any situation, no matter how bad it may seem, there is usually something positive that can be found. Actively looking for positives and asking the right questions can make all the difference.

Actually asking the question ‘what can I learn from this?’ is a great starting point, even if you only learn what not to do in the future. But you can go much further. It has often been said that when one door closes another opens; and that in every setback lies opportunity. Things usually happen for a reason. When something happens that may seem like the worst possible outcome, very often it turns out to be just the opposite.

Many people have achieved their greatest successes as a direct result of events that seemed like disasters at the time. Don’t just stare at the closed door – why not try asking yourself what opportunities are now available, or what doors have just opened for you? Try approaching the situation from a completely different angle and actively look for viewpoints you hadn’t considered. You may be amazed what you come up with. At the very least, it will improve your state of mind, start you thinking more positively and creatively, and may just change you life.

“A major stimulant to creative thinking is focused questions. There is something about a well-worded question that often penetrates to the heart of the matter and triggers new ideas and insights.” – Brian Tracy
