The Right Car Tracking System

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

A tracking system in your car could assist you well enough in finding out where you car may be head or where your car is in once a thief runs away with it. More often than not, people who have cars with a tracking system get them back in one piece still. You see, car tracking devices give you information on the current location of your vehicle so finding it would be easier.

You can have your own car tracking system installed in your beloved machine. Although you would have to first learn about the different tracking systems so you could choose which one would work best for you. Just like everything else, each type of these tracking systems has its own share of advantages and disadvantages. To get information, you can search through the Internet or you can also ask the companies for information about them.

Also, ask about the monthly service costs. At least, you would really know how much you would be spending on these systems and if you could really afford them. It would also be wise to ask if the system would be monitoring your car’s location at all times. That way, you can be sure that anytime you would like to have information about your car’s location, you would be given such as part of the whole payment. Also try to find a car-tracking system that has a wide range of coverage so that if the thief drives your vehicle out to another state, you can still track it.

Lab-Created Diamonds – Simulated Diamonds And Manufactured Diamonds Review

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

There has been a great deal discussion about lab-created diamonds. Along with that talk, there is much misinformation and perplexity. The jewelry lover, who is interested in realizing the huge savings and aesthetic beauty that simulated diamonds offer, is often bewildered by the manufactured diamond industry jargon and available options. This article will categorically break it down in easy-to-understand terms so that anyone can make an intelligent decision when choosing a simulated diamond.

GEM MATERIALS: 99% of all lab-created diamonds sold worldwide are polycrystalline on a molecular level. The differences are fundamentally in the technical aspects of manufacturing, cutting, and polishing. Think of it this wayall coffeemakers are made of plastic, steel, and glass, the differences are how these materials are designed and implemented. Higher quality coffeemakers make a better tasting cup of coffee. Higher quality manufactured diamonds are in line with mined diamonds.

QUALITY VARIANCES: It seems like grade variations are made out to be a more complex lab-created diamond issue then it really is. Once boiled down, there are three primary grades of simulated diamondshigh, medium, and low. For the jewelry shopper it should be noted that the quality of setting goes hand-in-hand with the quality of the gemstone. Those that sell manufactured diamond jewelry off point-of-purchase displays in the costume jewelry sections of discount stores use low quality or scrap stones that are not gem quality, and have disco ball or murky look. Those that sell manufactured diamond jewelry on the TV shopping channelswhich is generally with a sterling silver or a micro-thin layer of gold plated over silver (Vermeil [pronounced ver-may]) settingsuse medium quality stones not of gem quality. Those that sell solid 14K gold or solid platinum settings, as a rule, use the highest gem-quality man made gemstones that replicate mined diamonds.

PRICING: Low grade stones are sold in bulk to costume jewelry makers and are often glued on electroplated settings. This jewelry is fine for children, where loss risk is high, and usually retails for less than $15 per item. You will find medium grade stones primarily in sterling silver jewelry that sells for under $100 per item, settings and stones. Medium grade simulated diamonds can be distinguished by the naked eye as not being mined diamonds. High grade gemstone quality lab-created diamonds, undistinguishable by the naked eye from mined diamonds, are found mounted on settings of solid 14K gold and platinum. This is considered to be fine jewelry, with the best quality gemstones selling for under $100 per carat for the gemstones alone. Manufactured diamonds that sell for over $100 a carat are not higher quality than those that sell for between $80 and $100 per carat.

RECOMMENDATIONS: If you are buying for someone that is likely to lose the jewelry, there is no reason to spend any more than you have to, and Wal-Mart will do just fine. On the clearance rack you can even pick up some jewelry for less than $5 per item. If you buy simulated diamonds set in sterling silver, expect decent stones, but they will fool few into thinking they are mined diamonds. Also, your fingers are likely to turn green or black in response to a chemical reaction, not with the silver per se, but with the nickel/copper alloys in sterling silver. With any plated settings, gemstones are low to medium grade, and the plating will eventually chip off, particularly around the edges. When that happens, the nickel/copper alloys will be exposed, the setting will look like it came out of a gum ball machine, and your finger will generally turn green or black. It is just a matter of common sense, if you want simulated diamonds with mined-diamond qualities, they must be set in 14K solid gold. Jewelers who offer lab-created diamonds are not going spend on money on gold and not mount the highest quality stones, which would defeat the purpose of creating fine diamond-like jewelry and alienate customers.

Lead Me On – Learn About Internet Marketing Leads

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

Every business is engaged in selling something, whether a product, service, information, or something else. And sales usually begin with sales leads. As an offline example, new insurance and car sales people are frequently asked to compile lists of their friends, families, acquaintances, and so on. This list is used then as a lead builder – something to get the ball rolling towards that first big sale. The online world is no different. Every for-profit web site needs a steady flow of internet marketing leads. A big part of any online marketer*s job is to generate the leads that will ultimately be responsible for another sale. In particular, in the highly competitive online marketing arena, someone selling products and services to other marketers will need a steady flow of fresh internet marketing leads to fuel their sales.

Selling to internet marketers is a tough market segment to compete in. New products and services are released at an amazing rate. These new products and services are sometimes driven by new technology, other times by changes in market conditions or search engines, and still others are variations of existing products. Some of these products are themselves designed to help capture internet marketing leads!

There are several basic ways to capture new leads online. The most commonly recommended method is to build an email list. There*s an old direct marketing axiom *The money is in the list*, and this has held true on the internet as well. Email marketing may not work as well as it used to, due to spam filtering, but that*s not to say it*s not effective. After all, other than your time, it*s free to send, and response rates for email that does reach the intended recipients have remained steady. The theory of this type of internet marketing leads generation is that an email list works as the first part of a funnel system, whereby subscribers get some incentive to sign up for the list. It may be a free product, program, or report, or some other incentive that will then *funnel* responsive customers to your main products and services.

Other common lead generation techniques include using pay-per-click (PPC) advertising, adding information about a site, product, or service to an email signature file, and posting and answering questions on marketing related forums. Just think, for someone selling to other marketers, what better free way is there to generate internet marketing leads than posting in forums where other marketers *hang out*?

Whatever the lead generation techniques a marketer uses, the most important thing to remember about finding internet marketing leads is this: to be effective, they must be targeted. This means that the leads you generate must be generally interested in the product or service you offer. For an extreme example, it probably wouldn*t make sense to try to generate leads for a knitting product on a site that is football-related. The target audience of a football site isn*t generally going to be interested in knitting products.

As you begin to build your marketing-related web business, be sure to plan a good internet marketing lead strategy from the outset. It shouldn*t be an afterthought that you*ll take care of someday – Give it a lot of consideration early on.

Hypnosis As A Medical Tool

Tuesday, July 8th, 2008

Clinical hypnosis has been my professional focus for more
than a quarter-century. Even though I am a Certified
Registered Nurse Anesthetist and have held executive
positions both as a nurse and a hospital executive director
there is no treatment tool I know of that is more powerful
in helping people control their bodies, their feelings and
their lives than hypnosis. Hypnosis is a fascinating domain
of clinical research and practice that involves the study of
how seemingly ordinary people like you and I can accomplish
extraordinary things by using our minds.

All hypnosis is self-hypnosis and involves nothing more than
learning to focus your mind. All mental images thoughts and
ideas influence the body’s responses in some very special
ways. In one article I discussed the biochemical changes the
body makes just by thinking about eating a lemon. The brain
does not know that a thought or a memory is not the real thing.

Research has given us a great deal of knowledge through the
study of hypnosis on how the mind experiences both reality and
perception. What scientists discovered is that the mind cannot
tell the difference between reality and perception.

We have learned that people can learn to become so deeply
absorbed in daily life experiences that they can permit their
body to be more comfortable even when there are reasons
that perhaps they shouldn’t be. I have worked with patients
having dental procedures with Novocain, and childbirth with
no anesthetic. I have even been at a foot ball game where a
3 year old was stung on the hand twice by yellow jackets and
in only a few moments helped her take the pain completely
away. Much better than Grand Ma’s snuff use to do.

In the minds of some people the word “hypnosis” has
connotations of magic, or hocus-pocus. The media misrepresents
it when they show stunts with audience members clucking like
chickens or doing an Elvis impersonation. People think they
are in an unconscious state, when in fact the opposite is true.
You are more alert with the mind very focused and concentrated
somewhat like taking a magnifying glass and concentrating the
sun into such a small spot that you can create fire.

A lady came to me many years ago to stop smoking. She had a
wonderful result and was very happy that she no longer smoked.
However, her friends who were smokers starting saying to her,
“I can’t believe you let him control your mind like that. Why
there ain’t no telling what else he might have told you to do.”
So in all her wisdom the lady called and said, I quote; “I don’t like you controlling my mind. I want you to hypnotize me and give me my smoking back.” Simply amazing don’t you think.

Recently one of my clients came straight from her physician’s
office to my office. I asked her. “What did your doctor say
about you coming to a hypnotist?” Her reply was, “My doctor
said I can’t believe you are going to let him have control of
your mind.” She responded so well to hypnosis for her problem
that she wasn’t about to quit the hypnosis.

Fortunately, the truth of the matter is that the hypnotist is never in control. A hypnotic suggestion works only if you accept it, and the therapist cannot make you do something you would not do consciously, something that goes against your moral code or religious beliefs, for example. The practitioner’s goal is to help you use your own mind to solve problems, rather than give you the answers. If you have ever day dreamed then you have been in hypnosis.

Body Piercing – How Much Does It Hurt?

Friday, July 4th, 2008

So you’re thinking of getting your first body piercing and are worried about the pain? It can be difficult to get a realistic overview on exactly how much it can hurt. Some piercers tend to understate the pain, as they simply don’t want to scare off potential customers so they are not always a reliable source of information, whereas those who have been pierced often like to look ‘brave’ and so understate too.

So…does it hurt? The simple answer is yes. However, the amount of pain can vary hugely depending on the person, the body part pierced and even the mood/mental state of the person getting pierced. Certainly the pain felt is usually very quick and far from unbearable. Some people will feel little more than pain similar to the sharp prick you get from a gum injection at the dentist, whereas other may feel feint or even vomit (although thankfully rare).

Professional piercings are performed using a very sharp hollow surgical needle (much the same as those used to insert drips or for giving blood). This means that for most body piercings the needle is through the skin in a split second and the discomfort will only last that long.

Obviously the part of the body pierced is one of the biggest factors in determining the amount of pain felt. For many people nipples tend to be one of the more tender areas, whereas something like an earlobe is generally no more than a little uncomfortable. Oddly enough genital piercings aren’t always the most painful even when piercing the glans on a man. Many genital piercings are through very soft tissue which despite the large increase in nerve endings, means that the speed the piercing occurs usually more than offsets any additional pain involved.

The bottom line though is really don’t get too anxious about it. It will be bearable, it will be over very quickly and if you really want a piercing it’s worth the effort. Despite this many people will try various methods and substances to ease the pain prior to being pierced – most with little or no success.

One of the most common but least effective methods people try is simply alcohol i.e. a few stiff drinks before going in. Although it can and does take the edge off of the pain it carries bigger problems. Firstly any reputable studio will not pierce you if they think that you have been drinking. Getting pierced is a big decision and you really need to be sober when making it. Secondly alcohol will often induce vomiting in those getting pierced when the needle goes through. Obviously this is less than desirable and no studio wants you to empty your stomach over their nice, clean floor.

Cannabis is also a method many people try. The simple advice to this one is DON’T. Not just because it’s illegal to use in most countries, but simply because for many people being high on cannabis will actually heighten the pain which is the last thing that you want. Also, as with alcohol, no reputable studio will pierce somebody where they suspect the person in question is high.

There are a few options that can be used in the studio by the piercer although not all studios use them as to be honest they generally help very little. In the UK and most of Europe local anaesthetic injections and/or Emla cream can only be used by a trained and qualified professional which does not include most high street body piercers. As a general rule the only anaesthetics that should be used in the UK are Xylocaine spray or similar and these should not be used for oral piercings. However, in many cases the administration these anaesthetics could cause more pain than the actual piercing.

So the best advice is to simply relax and remember it will be over quickly. Some people even enjoy the whole experience, considering it in some way spiritual.

Monitor Your Exercise Intensity – The Talk Test

Thursday, July 3rd, 2008

Cardio is something alot of us hate to do. Admit it. We all dread it… even I hate doing it, but at the same time, at the corner of our mind, we do realise that it is important and a must if you want to improve your fitness levels. Some of us do it to shed some pounds, and some do it to keep the fat off and the abs fully visible. However, how do we get the most out of our time on a treadmill/stepper, etc and at what intensity do we need train at?

I’ve touched on the topic of intensity before, but here’s a neat method to roughly determine if you’re on the right track without the need for any fancy calculations. This should help the totally clueless get some direction while they do their cardio.

Although you could determine your target heart rate with some effort and calculations over a few observations, there are ‘other ways’ to monitor your exercise intensity. Please be advised, that this is not a guaranteed accurate method to determine if you’re exercising at the required intensity, but a fairly sufficient gauge to see if you’re on the right track. If you’re a beginner, this is an excellent way to gauge your intensity without having to crack your brain in dealing with numbers.

Firstly, what is THR?

Target Heart Rate (THR) : The ideal intensity level at which your heart is being exercised but not overworked. Determined by finding your maximum heart rate and taking a percentage of it (60 to 85 percent, depending on fitness level).

With that covered, let’s move on. Known as the TALK TEST, it is basically your ability to TALK during your cardio workout, and believe it or not – it can actually help you determine how hard you’re working. Sounds too simple? That’s because it actually is.

When doing your cardio, you should aim for an intensity that allows you to talk comfortably. If you can talk comfortably, you’re probably somewhere around the lower range of your target heart rate zone, which is kinda okay, but you should aim for better. Try singing or reciting a few lines from a favorite song (do it too loud, and you’ll look like an idiot). If it’s VERY VERY easy to do, you should bump up your intensity a bit and try again after a few minutes. If it gets too difficult to sing or talk, slow down to get into a better zone. The goal is to get to an intensity level where its comfortable to talk, but yet, you’re unable to hold a really long conversation and long sentences without having to pause for deep breaths.

If you’re exercising at a rate where you’re almost breathless, well.. then you’re pushing it, cos you shouldn’t be breathless during your workouts, UNLESS you’re doing interval training, HIIT (High-intensity interval training) or a short, high intensity workout, and that’s a totally different topic.

Of course, with all this in mind, please don’t throw your common sense out of the window too. If you ever feel dizzy, or lightheaded, you should slow down or stop exercising.

If you’re keen on exploring and wish to determine your Target Heart Rate more accurately, I’m sure a helpful Personal Trainer at your gym could help you out. If he/she isn’t willing.. well, then you need a new gym.
